Greatest Story Ever Told In Rhyme???

This topic is definitely a great one for debating. There are some MCs out there who have been known for their great story-telling abilities. I don't believe that every MC should be a great story-teller as many seem to mention when speaking on great MCs. However, there are some MCs whose story-telling abilities are just unbelievable.

One MC who is very talented with this is my all-time favorite MC, Kool G Rap. I have added a link at the bottom of this post for his song "A Thug's Love Story". This song in my opinion is the illest story ever told in rhyme. The story is broken up into 3 chapters and the level of detail and action throughout the story makes you quickly forget that it's actually a song! You suddenly feel as if you're sitting in a movie theater with a bucket of popcorn and a pack of snocaps on your lap lolol. Never in all my life have I heard an MC tell a story ANYTHING like this. This song is from his album, "Roots of Evil" that many people do not even know about. He specifically recorded this album to raise the bar and take his lyricism to another level. The bad part is that is was released on a small label, was badly promoted and soon became unavailable.

What are some of the illest stories you have heard in rhyme???

Here's a link for downloading the song:

Interesting Debates...

Here's some interesting debates I came across online that I felt like sharing.

This is one with Charles Hamilton arguing with Joe Buddens, Royce Da 5'9", Joel Ortiz, DJ Enuff, etc.:

Here's Clark Kent speaking on the state of Hip Hop and why/how it has changed. This is a 5 part series, so after this clip finishes just click on the other parts as they come up. He always says some interesting things in my opinion since he's been in the game for so long and has seen/experienced so much:

Although these debates are very interesting, I agree and disagree with these cats on different levels...especially the part about the Jay Z/Biggie debate, don't get me started on that one. I personally think Biggie would be nowhere near as successful as Jay for many reasons...one simply being that Jay Z started his own label and that alone brings you WAY more money than an artist who is signed to a label with the numbers Jay has been pulling. There are many more reasons (Ex. any artist fuckin with Diddy on Bad Boy is never developed into a huge success-usually Bad Boy artists' careers are over with in a short matter of time). Like I said, this one can go on and on, but I wanted to share these.

Here's a little clip of Kweli talking about some of his favorite artists doing it right now:

New Dope Videos To Peep!

Here are some new dope videos to check out. I'm always asked about what new dope Hip Hop is out there that I know about and here are some great examples of some:

This is the new video by my homie P.Casso from the AOK Collective. Shout out to him and all my peeps in the video (Kalae, Nola Darling, Fresh Daily, Hungry Bros, Homeboy Sandman, Sucio Smash, etc.)!

Here's a dope video from my brother from another mother, M-Tri. I have MAD cameo time in this video lolol. This video was also just aired on Video Music Box, by Ralph McDaniels this past Saturday! Shout out to M-Tri!

Here's one from my homie Sabac Red of Non Phixion. This is from his new album, "The Ritual" that was just released recently. He actually has another video coming out for his song, "Viva Boricua" in which I have some cameo time lol. Look out for that one coming soon.

This is a stupid, dope video from my homie Final Outlaw. It's definitely one of my favorites right now.

Check out this video from my homies Kats and Domer that just came out. Shout out to both of them!

Check out this dope video from my homie Hired Gun. Shout out to him!

Here's a really dope video by my homie Rugged N Raw featuring Hasan Salaam. This is definitely some funny shit! LOLOL

This video is a funky fresh addition to the list by my homie Fresh Daily. It was actually done a little while back, but it's dope! It was also directed by another homie of mine, Photo Rob.

And lastly...here's my video that I just dropped recently for my joint "Plain and Simple", produced by my dude The Avid Record Collector. Shout out to him and Mark Carranceja of Noisemaker Media who directed the joint.

Some other videos to look out for (that have not yet been released, but have cameos from me) are "Lightning Bolt", by Homeboy Sandman, "Fif in the Morning", by Poison Pen, "Viva Boricua", by Sabac Red of Non Phixion and a joint from the group Invizzibl Men. I'm gonna keep posting new dope shit to check out here on the regular. Peace!

Get Some Headphones!

This is one of those rant posts of mine that you'll see from me now and then lol. I, like most people in here, deal with the mass transit system daily. Anyone who also deals with the train and/or bus can tell you that it can be a headache sometimes. You never know what to expect sometimes since you can find yourself dealing with overpacked trains, a stalled train, a delayed bus, etc. Regardless of all these types of headaches mentioned, one of the biggest headaches in my opinion is being stuck in a packed train or bus while some knucklehead is playing music from their cell phone mad loud. Playing music on your phone is cool, but these fools need to get headphones or something instead of trying to turn the train ride into a party that most people on the train wish they weren't invited to lol. Why do I have to be forced to listen to your mp3 of T-Pain mad loud while you bop your head and do the 2-step in front of me??? I don't know, but it's just me. What MTA situations drive you nuts??? LOL
